I got this book through my Facebook Book Club reviewers group. I get to review a book and exchange for a free book.
The Law of Attraction is basically a Legally Blonde set in England, after Elle Woods graduates school. Amanda Bentley is a beautiful barrister who is competing for a spot at a legal firm against a vile schoolmate.
I struggled with this book a little bit. It’s set in or after 2013 (watching the final season of Breaking Bad was mentioned), a time when nearly all young women have their cell phones glued to their hands. But this book only mentions a phone call twice, and never mentions texting or messaging apps. I couldn’t believe that two people that were attracted to each other, weren’t texting like crazy. Especially, since months go by between times when they are alone.
Also, there are a TON of parentheses. At least one on every page. I feel like it could have been worded better to have a smoother flow. Parentheses are very disruptive.
My nit picking aside, it was a good book. It was a light read, there was character growth, and the ending had everything tied up in a neat bow.
